The Punjab Food Authority sealed three juice factories over producing fake and substandard juices while taking action in various parts of the city as a part of a grand operation to eliminate the sale of impure food items before the arrival of Ramazan Mubarak.
PFA teams also confiscated sixty thousand kilogram of pulp, eleven thousand litres fake beverages, two thousand litres of chemicals and artificial flavors. Director General PFA along headed vigilance teams in the surrounding areas of Lahore and Sahiwal.
Director General Captain Muhammad Usman (Retd) said that PFA officials have shut down the production of Kashif juice factory near Kot Abdul Malik for uncertain situation. Apart from that in another raid vigilance teams also sealed Nadeem and Aftab juice unit.
According to him, business operators were using non-food grade colour, chemicals and expired flavors in the preparation of juices besides this inspection has been conducted due to presence of false labelling on juices. On the other hand workers of factory do not possess their food license and proper medical certificates.
DG PFA said that it is the supreme responsibility of authority to eradicate the supply of fake beverages in Ramazan. He said that authority is taking every necessary step to ensure wholesome and pure food for masses. We are working over every precautionary measure to standardize the substandard food for general public.

Meanwhile Director General Punjab Food Authority chaired a meeting with a 5 member delegation of Sindh Food Authority and discussed food legislations and regulation. DG PFA briefed them about the PFA's professional approach and managerial affairs. He also briefed them about PFA operations, laboratory analysis, and training schools procedures. Nutrition clinic and awareness programmes have been negotiated.
On that occasion, Director Sindh Food Authority appreciated the managerial affairs and measurements taken by PFA to ensure hygienic food provision. Dr Mehvish Qilbani added that PFA laws and regulations are perfect, precise and worthy.
DG PFA added that tomorrow PFA would brief them about filed operations procedures as today managerial affairs has been discussed. He also told that tomorrow this delegation would spend day with field teams to understand the working procedures and actions.
Moreover, he told that all food authorities must be in action to beat adulteration mafia. Lastly, DG PFA exclaimed that Punjab Food Authority is supporting all food authorities to be more professional and established.
