The 2019 general elections in India are characterised by quite a few interesting incidents. For example, an Indian man chopped off his index finger in desperation after voting for the wrong party in the country's national election.
According to media reports, Pawan Kumar became confused by the symbols on the electronic voting machines and voted for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's party instead of its regional rival in Uttar Pradesh state on Thursday. Distraught, the 25-year-old Kumar went home and chopped off his finger with a meat cleaver.
A few days later, Bengal chief minister Mamta Banerjee threatened to send Modi 'sweets made of soil and pebbles'. She has reportedly said: "I will send him [Modi] rosogullas from Bengal, but this time made of sand with pebbles - so his teeth will break off".
