The Karachi Port handled 178,337 tonnes of cargo comprising 112,688 tonnes of import cargo and 65,649 tonnes of export cargo including 5,340 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargos of 112,688 tonnes comprised of 69,183 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,088 tonnes of bulk cargo and 38,417 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 65,649 tonnes comprised of 57,372 tonnes of containerised cargo; 250 tonnes of bulk cargo; 2,566 tonnes of wheat and 5,461 tonnes of rice. As many as 5,340 containers comprising of 3,063 containers import and 2,277 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,159 of 20's and 686 40's loaded while 62 of 20's and 235 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 681 of 20's and 415 of 40's loaded containers while 128 of 20's and 319 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely Northern Dexterite, SM Savannah, Ever Deluxe, Oriental Freesia, TRF Memphis, Houyoshi Express-II and Liberty Promise carrying containers, oil tankers and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels viz. Ever Deluxe, MS Tiger, Hyundai Vancouver, Gulf Horizon, Gao Cheng-2, Torm Ismini, Liberty Promise and Liberty Peace carrying containers, oil tankers and vehicle respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 137,478 tonnes comprising 80,136 tonnes of import cargo and 57,342 tonnes of export cargo including 3,539 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 80,136 tonnes includes 16,139 tonnes of palm oil; 33,489 tonnes of coal; 4,809 tonnes of chemical; 15,800 tonnes of canola seeds and 9,899 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 57,342 tonnes includes 57,342 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,539 containers comprising of 521 containers import and 3,018 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. There were two ships namely Safmarine Ngami and CMA CGM Rigoletto carrying containers sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while three more ships namely Pavo Bright, Fortitude and Forest Park carrying coal, chemical and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, chemical, canola seeds and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as nine vessels viz. CPO Hamburg, Thor Madoc, Marlin-V, Pisti, Crimson Kingdom, BW GDF Suez Brussel, White Purl, BW Panthar and MR Pigasus respectively carrying containers, coal, soyabean, LPG, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CPO Hamburg, Kamila Kosan, BW GDF Suez Brussel and MR Pigasus carrying containers, chemical, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday. There are two ships namely APL New York and Maersk Seletor carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
