Terming the new local bodies system a public welfare initiative, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar Tuesday said in the new LB system, powers will be devolved at the grassroots level. In the new Pakistan, he said there is no room for any exploitative local bodies system. The Punjab will take a lead in every sector and people will be empowered, Sardar Usman said while chairing a meeting of media committee, at his office here on Tuesday.
The meeting decided to establish contacts with the media in more effective manner. The CM directed to pay the advertisement dues to the newspapers and media houses at the earliest and also issued directions to the finance department in this regard.
He assured that funds will be provided on priority basis for payment of dues of newspapers and media houses adding that no delay should occur in this regard.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information Iftikhar Durrani, Punjab Information Minister Syed Samsam Ali Bukhari, spokesman for CM Dr Shahbaz Gill, Secretary Information, DGPR and others attended the meeting.
The chief minister said that the government has worked day and night during the last eight months to provide relief to the masses and a new working culture has been introduced. He said that duties should be performed in an active manner to sensitize the people about the steps taken by the government for the welfare of the people.
Moreover, in his message on 'World Labour Day' the CM said, "In the new Pakistan, labourers will get their rights because the country belongs to them and labourers will live an honourable life." He further said that trained human resource is the backbone of trade and industry and the government is taking steps for the welfare of the labourers.
