Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting, Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the Supreme Court's verdict on Nawaz Sharif's plea for extension in bail is based on facts. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, she said that the courts are independent in the country. Commenting on the Supreme Court's judgement on a petition filed by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Awan said that the narrative of Prime Minister Imran Khan has been vindicated.
The special assistant said that the court had provided six-week bail to Nawaz Sharif for medical treatment, but he did not visit any hospital during that time. "Sharifs' series to misguide people has come to an end now," she claimed.
She said the narrative based on lies has died down and the people have known reality about Sharif brothers, who have the only objective to go to London. "Imran Khan's narrative regarding [Opposition Leader in the National Assembly] Shehbaz Sharif has proven to be true. Prime Minister Khan had said earlier that Shehbaz should not be appointed as the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC)," she said, adding that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has itself changed its opposition leader and the PAC chairman.
Criticising Nawaz Sharif, Awan further said that the former prime minister was not admitted to any hospital during the bail period. "He vanishes on every appearance but is always ready for picnicking in London." While answering a question, Awan said that Prime Minister Khan took notice of the hike in medicines' prices and directed for special measures to reduce the rates. Awan said that the government and the opposition should jointly work for providing relief to people.
