The Sehat Insaf Cards were distributed among the members of transgender community in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday. A ceremony was held at Peshawar Press Club under auspice of TransAction Alliance with support of Blue Veins a local NGO working for an inclusive society. The transgender community and civil society activists specially thanked Senator, Rubina Khalid, Farhatullah Babar, Nighat Yasmeen Orakzai, Mushtaq Ghani, Ravi Kumar, Rabia Basri and other legislators for raising voices for the uplift of transgender community.
Dr Muhammad Riaz Tanoli Project Director, Sehat Sahulat Programme (Social Health Protection Initiative) Health Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said, "Govt is committed to improving the status of the transgender community."
Qamar Naseem, a social activist while speaking on the occasion informed that the Sehat Insaf Card will give free-of-cost coverage for HIV/AIDS and all types of cancers under the new plan.
