Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that foreign investment is necessary to steer the country out of prevailing economic crisis while the government is trying to ensure ease of doing business, to facilitate the investors. While addressing the inauguration ceremony of JW Forland Car Plant and Extension of Haier Phase-II here on Saturday, the premier said that the Chinese investment in Pakistan would help Pakistan overcome economic crisis through wealth creation. "It would be for the first time that the vehicles would be manufactured in Pakistan at the plant that would be completed in three phases," he said.
The PM assured that the government through Board of Investment (BoI) was making all-out efforts to remove impediments in businesses and facilitate the investors. He said the investors had been facing hurdles like red-tapism, bribery which forced them to move to other destinations like Dubai.
The PM lauded the company''s plan of manufacturing an electric car, which would help reduce the pollution level, particularly in the cities like Lahore. Felicitating the management of JW Forland that would create 40,000 jobs and give up to Rs 30 billion taxes to the government, the PM said that in future, the company would also export its products that would bring forex for the country.
Moreover, the PM Imran Khan in a meeting with Director General Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab Ijaz Hussain Shah, said that the elimination of corruption was foremost priority of the government, as it could not go along with the journey of national development.
The premier directed that an indiscriminate action should be taken against corrupt elements. Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and PM Special Assistant on accountability Shahzad Akbar were also present during the meeting.
The PM assured that the government would extend all out support in this mission. He believed that corruption had not only inflicted irreparable loss to the national economy but also marred the national institutions besides adversely affecting the common man. He expressed that elimination of corruption from Pakistan was the top priority of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.
Sources said the PM directed across the board action against the corrupt elements. Strategy was also discussed to hold corrupt bureaucrats accountable.
