Turkmenistan's national carrier said Saturday that European aviation authorities have cleared it to resume flights to Europe from June 1 after banning them in February. Turkmenistan Airlines listed flights to the British city of Birmingham and the German city of Frankfurt on its schedule for the first time since the ban was imposed by the European Aviation Safety Agency.
The EASA did not respond to multiple requests from AFP seeking confirmation. The resumption of Turkmenistan Airlines flights was not mentioned on the EASA's website on Saturday. Hundreds of passengers were left stranded in Britain in February after the EASA suspended Turkmenistan Airlines over safety concerns.
