The Accountability Courts (I & II) Monday while hearing the fake bank accounts case extended the physical remand of three accused on the request of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The Accountability Court-II Judge Muhammad Arshad Malik while hearing the case extended the physical remand of Nadeem Bhutto, the in-charge of Naudero House Larkana, for seven days.
During the hearing, the NAB prosecutor told the court that bureau has also summoned the people whose names were disclosed by Nadeem Bhutto during investigation. The salaries of employees of Naudero House are paid from the account of Nadeem, he said, adding that money had been transferred to his account from fake bank accounts.
During the previous hearing, the judge asked Nadeem to explain how Rs 7.4 million were transferred into his bank account. Nadeem replied that he was getting Rs 20,000 monthly salary and had no idea who deposited such a huge amount in his bank account.
According to reports, Nadeem was responsible for taking care of financial affairs of Naudero House. Nadeem's brother, Abdul Jabbar, was personal photographer of the Bhutto family. The NAB officials produced two other accused including Dr Dinshaw Anklesaria, an accountant of Park Lane Estate Company, and Jamil Baloch, director KDA, before the Accountability Court-I Judge Muhammad Bashir and requested to extend their physical remand for 14 days. The court granted 10 days physical remand of Anklesaria and Baloch to NAB in fake accounts case.
The NAB prosecutor requested the court to extend Anklesaria's remand for 14 days as the investigators have got important clues from him during probe. Anklesaria had made important revelations about allotment of plots in Bagh-e-Jinnah Karachi, he said, adding that the accused informed investigators about different records of allotments of welfare plots.
He further told the court that on the basis of information shared by Anklesaria, investigators have to recover further record. The counsel of Anklesaria while objecting to NAB's request for extension in physical remand said that NAB has mala fide intention. His client is the director of Galaxy International, he said, adding that where the other directors and board of governors of the company are. "Why has NAB not nominated other people as accused?" he asked.
He said that his client has spent many days in the custody of NAB and there is not a single document on record to show link of Anklesaria with this matter. On this, the NAB prosecutor replied that NAB has many documents which show Anklesaria's link with this matter.
Anklesaria being an advisor of chief minister had sent two applications signed by him regarding allotment of plots in Bagh-e-Jinnah Karachi. "It was in the knowledge of Anklesaria that land was property of Bagh-e-Jinnah Karachi," he said.
About Jamil Baloch, the NAB prosecutor told the court that the letter over which land was allotted had been written by Baloch. During the investigation Baloch has informed investigators about different records and NAB has to get all records on the identification of Baloch, he said. The court reserved its judgement regarding extension in physical remand of Anklesaria and Baloch for some time. Later, the court while announcing its judgement extended the physical remand of both the accused for 10 days.
