KARACHI: Senior politician Dr Farooq Sattar on Saturday lambasted the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Waseem Akhtar, saying that Mayor Karachi was busy in demolishing the city, as 10000 shops and several houses have already been razed in the name of anti-encroachment drive.
Talking to media after appearing before Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) here, he said: “If the PM Imran Khan’s own house in Bani Gali can be regularized then why such buildings in Karachi should not.” Sattar lamented that the people of Karachi had been deprived of basic facilities; federal government should provide all due rights of Sindh.
He admired the statement of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Saeed Ghani’s refusal to demolish houses during ongoing anti-encroachment drive. On Friday, Saeed Ghani Minister for Sindh Local Government had threatened to tender his resignation if he were forced to implement SC’s orders to demolish houses in the metropolis.
