The Senate Special Committee Thursday held its second session with a delegation of Pashtun Tahafuz Movement and sought data of missing persons, arrested PTM workers and those whose names are put on Exit Control List (ECL), so that the matters could be taken up with the departments concerned for a workable solution.
The Senate Special Committee, which was formed recently to examine purported grievances amongst some sections of the society, met with Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif in the chair and interacted with the PTM for second time and assured them of its all possible efforts to remove their concerns through dialogue.
Welcoming the PTM delegation led by MNA Mohsin Dawar, Senator Saif said that this committee would be instrumental in resolving such issues. The leadership of the PTM and the members of the committee discussed the ongoing issues at length. The members of the committee were of the opinion that this session has provided an opportunity to understand the issues and learn from each other. The delegation was assured that the parliamentary panel would play a role of bridge to address their reservations.
The PTM delegation apprised the committee of their demands and grievances. They said that the measures must be taken to resolve the issue of missing persons, terrorism, FIRs registered against PTM workers, and removing their names from the ECL. They demanded that these issues need to be taken with departments concerned and the committee should play its active role in resolving them.
Senator Saif asked the PTM leadership to provide data of missing persons, arrested workers and those whose names are put on the ECL so that the matter could be taken with the departments concerned. The delegation assured the committee that all such details would be submitted to the committee in the next few days.
The delegation apprised the committee that the PTM would make a team which would remain in touch with the committee for negotiations, adding the names of team members would be provided soon. Barrister Saif said that the committee would play its constitutional and legal role in removing purported grievances amongst some sections of the society and would reach out the genuinely aggrieved persons to create national cohesion. He further said that the solution of all political matters and grievances can be sorted out through dialogue.
The committee reiterated that the process of dialogue would continue. The committee members include Jahanzeb Jamaldini, Sitara Ayaz, Sajjad Hussain Turi, Hidayatullah, Dilawar Khan, Fida Muhammad, Naseebullah Bazai, Sardar Shafiq Tareen, Sameena Saeed, Khanzada Khan, Mir Kabeer Ahmed Muhammad Shahi and Pir Sabir Shah.
