Former World Champion Jansher Khan on Friday inaugurated the 25-days long Ramadan Summer Squash Camp for Under-9 and Under-11 boys and girls here at PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex on Friday.
Former World Champion Jansher Khan, President KP Squash Association Qamar Zaman, Head Coach of PAF Squash Academy Atlas Khan, former World No. 10 Amjad Khan, PAF coaches Gulab Sher, Maqsood Hanif, Nazir Khan, Kamran Khan, Riaz Khan, Member Executive Committee and Head Coach Blue Tone Squash Academy Wazir Gul, Secretary KP Squash Association Munawar Zman, Sher Bahadar Khan were also present on this occasion.
Qamar Zaman, who is also Vice President Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF), disclosed that hosting of the Summer Squash Camp is an annual feature of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Squash Association calendar wherein more than 80 boys and girls are part of the camp for this year. He said during the camp league matches would also be organized among the players of the Ramadan Summer Squash Camp and the position holders would be awarded cash prizes and trophies so that they could be encouraged.
Former World Champion and World record holder Jansher Khan congratulated KP Squash Association for holding the Camp on regular basis which also provide ample opportunities to the youngsters to come up at national and international levels.
He also appreciated Pakistan Squash Federation for the dedicated and commitment toward the promotion of squash in the country. He said if decision would be made on merit and due attention was given to the deserving players, the Pakistani players have the potential to show in the international circuit.He said PSF has taken a bold step for the revival of international squash to Pakistan and hosted numerous tournaments which certainly help the players to better their international ranking.
The resumption of international squash in the country is quite commendable and through this way we are able to portray a soft image of Pakistan to the rest of the world, Jansher Khan added.
The squash wizard and legendry Jansher Khan hailed the special role-played by Chief of Air Staff Mujahid Anwar Khan (NI) (M) for taking bold initiative in the restoration and survival of international squash by holding mega international tournaments of squash in Pakistan in 2018 and hoped that under the supervision and leadership of Pakistan Air Force, Pakistan squash will be brought back on the right path of development in future.
According to Jansher, though, Pakistan had all the ingredients to become a formidable nation in squash once again. "We have great talent but we need to be focused. I'm sure soon we will start making squash champions." Earlier, Jansher Khan and Qamar Zaman formally inaugurated the Summer Coaching Camp by playing a rally. A data of performance of the League matches of each player would be made.
