The government on Saturday updated national list of proscribed organisations and added names of 10 more organisations for their affiliation with Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation (FIF) and Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM). The Ministry of Interior had included the names of JuD and FIF, headed by Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, in the list of proscribed organisations on March 5 this year.
According to the Ministry of Interior, it has proscribed organisations including Al Anfal Trust, Lahore; Idara Khidmat-e-Khalaq, Lahore; Al Dawat-ul-Irshad, Lahore; Al Hamd Trust, Lahore/Faisalabad; Mosque and Welfare Trust, Lahore; Al Madinah Foundation, Lahore; Muaz bin Jabal Education Trust, Lahore; Al Eesar Foundation, Lahore; Al Rehmat Trust Organisation, Bahawalpur; and Al Furqan Trust, Karachi, for being affiliated with the JuD and FIF in pursuance of the National Action Plan (NAP). With the inclusion of 10 more organisations in the proscribed list, the total number reached 81. The government on April 18 last declared Pak-Turk International CAG Education a proscribed organisation and included its name in the list. According to the Interior Ministry's list available at the National Counter Terrorism Authority's website, 71 organisations/splinter outfits including JuD, FIF, JeM, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) (Afghanistan), Sipah-e-Muhammad Pakistan (SMP), Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT) and Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) are proscribed under the section 11-B-(1) r/w Schedule-I, Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.
The name of a country is mentioned in the list in case the organisation is believed to be operating outside Pakistan and reference to the UNSCR 1267 is mentioned, in case the organisation has been enlisted by the UN Security Council. The government on February 21 following National Security Committee (NSC) meeting had put the JuD and FIF under the watch list. According to the list, two organisations including Ghulaman-e-Sahaba (GS) and Maymar Trust have been put under watch by the Ministry of Interior under the section 11-D-(1) r/w Schedule-II, Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.
Another two organisations Al-Akbar Trust and Al-Rashid Trust are enlisted under the UN Security Council Resolution 1267. The process of maintaining a list of proscribed organisations had been started on Aug 14, 2001.
