Prices of important kitchen items, especially chicken meat, vegetable, fruits, dates, eggs, flour etc. have dropped in retail market, according to a survey carried out by Business Recorder here on Sunday. The survey witnessed that price of live chicken has decreased to Rs158 per kilogramme which was selling at Rs191 per kilogramme in the previous week. A dozen of farm eggs are available at Rs90 and Rs100.
However, the beef is still expensive in local market, as being sold at Rs400 and Rs450 per kilogramme, while mutton meat was available at Rs800 and Rs900 per kilogramme in local market. Price of gram flour (baisen) remained unchanged in retail market as being sold at Rs140 per kilogramme. Sugar is available at Rs70 and Rs74 per kilogramme in open market.
Dates are being sold at Rs200 and Rs250 per kilogramme against the rate of Rs300 per kilogramme in the previous week. Prices of different quality/brand beverages remained unchanged in the retail market.
Similarly, a slight decrease in prices of fruits was also witnessed in retail market, as banana is being sold at Rs80 and Rs100 per dozen which was selling at Rs150 per dozen before the start of the holy month of Ramazan. Melon is being sold at Rs60 per kilogramme against the price of Rs80 per kilogramme.
Water melon is being sold at Rs60 per kilogramme. Green coloured apple is being sold at Rs100 per kilogramme against the price of Rs120 per kilogramme in the previous week, while red-coloured apples are available at Rs150 and Rs200 per kilogramme in local market.
A Rs20 per kilogram decrease in price of onion was witnessed in retail market as available at Rs50 per kilogramme against the rate of Rs70 per kilogramme last week, the survey said, added that price of tomatoes has also declined to Rs40 per kilogramme against the price of Rs60 per kilogramme a week ago.
But, price of lemon is still 'sky-high' as available at Rs400 per kilogramme in local market. Cucumber is being sold at Rs20 per kilogramme against the price of Rs30 per kilogramme in the previous week.
Ginger is being sold at Rs250 per kilogramme against the rate of Rs280 and Rs300 per kilogramme in the previous week. Garlic was available at Rs120 and Rs150 per kilogramme. Cabbage is being sold at Rs100 per kilogramme, cauliflower at Rs80 per kilogramme, ladyfinger at Rs100 per kilogramme, capsicum at Rs80 per kilogramme, potatoes are being sold at Rs30 per kilogramme.
Round and long gourds are being sold at Rs80 and Rs100 per kilogramme. Arvi is being sold at Rs140 per kilogramme. Peas are being sold at Rs100 per kilogramme. Bringle is being sold at Rs40 per kilogramme. Bitter gourd (Karela) is being sold at Rs80 per kilogramme.
Price of green chili has decreased to Rs150 per kilogram which was selling at Rs200 per kilogramme last week. Carrots are being sold at Rs50 per kilogramme.
According to the survey, the prices of pulses/food grains have remained high, as no significant change or decrease was witnessed compared to the previous week.
Good quality rice (sela) is being sold at Rs150 per kilogramme and Rs140 per kilogramme, while toota rice priced at Rs80 per kilogramme. Big size white channa is being sold at Rs140 and Rs120 per kilogramme.
Dal mash is available at Rs140 per kilogramme, dal masoor at Rs100 per kilogramme and Rs90 per kilogramme, the survey noticed, and added that dhoti dal priced at Rs130 per kilogramme, red bean is being sold at Rs140 and Rs180 per kilogramme which was selling at Rs120 and Rs160 per kilogramme respectively. Moonge is being sold at Rs150 per kilogramme.
The survey further said that white lobiya is being sold at Rs120 per kilogramme which was selling at Rs110 per kilogramme. Dal chilka (black) was available at Rs140 per kilogramme while dal chilka (green) priced at Rs130 per kilogramme. Dal channa is being sold at Rs120 per kilogramme.
According to the survey, the prices of cooking oil/ghee of different brands and quality was remained unchanged in the retail market as available within range of Rs170, Rs 180 and Rs200 per litre/kg.
Fresh milk is being sold at Rs110 per litre against the official fixed price of Rs90 per litre, while yogurt is available at Rs120 per kilogramme against the official fixed rate of Rs100 per kilogramme.
