Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has issued special directives for the early completion of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project. The chief minister has directed the contractors of BRT project to begin working double shifts to complete the mega project within the timeline.
He has also directed payment to contractors and resolution of their other problems also. For guaranteeing double shift work on the project, he has directed the supervision of Sahibzada Saeed, the Head of Strategic Support Unit (SSU).
He issued these instructions while chairing a meeting which was attended by the chief secretary, Saleem Khan, Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR), principal secretary to CM, Shahab Ali Shah, SSU head, Sahibzada Saeed, Director General (DG) Peshawar Development Authority (PDA), contractors and other senior authorities.
During the meeting, the contractors briefed the chief minister regarding their problems while DG PDA gave detailed briefing on progress on the BRT project and its completion. The chief minister heard their problems and also assured their resolution and ruled out any compromise on the quality and timely completion of the project. He directed the guaranteeing speedy completion of the BRT Peshawar according as per required standards.
The chief minister said that the resolution of traffic related problems of Peshawar on permanent basis and providing them better transportation facility is the target of their government. The meeting was in particular given briefing regarding progress on all three reaches of BRT, particularly the construction of bus stations, depots and feed routes. He said that people have big expectations from the project.
Therefore, the required standard and facilities should be guaranteed in its completion. The chief minister directed all concerned organisations for maintaining coordination for the accelerated completion of the project. He particularly directed more steps for concentration on the drainage system and maintaining smooth flow of traffic, so the people do not suffer any further.
