Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser has said that maintaining a pleasant and peaceful environment in the House is the joint responsibility of the government and opposition benches. He said this while chairing a meeting of the government and opposition leaders, stressing the need for friendly environment in the House during session as the House represents the entire nation so, therefore, the role of both government and opposition is of prime importance.
During the meeting, it was decided that current session of the National Assembly will continue till 24th May, 2019. The Speaker said that maintaining peace and friendly environment in the House is the collective responsibility of both government and opposition benches.
He said, "We need to respect one another's opinion and there is a need of patience and tolerance." He said that strong Parliament ensures prosperous country. While stressing on the need of legislation, he said that effective legislation can solve the issues faced by masses and it is the only way by which the respect of the House be upheld.
The Speaker said consensus among the parties having representation in the assembly is necessary for resolution of people's problems. Asad Qaiser said all the political forces will have to play their due role to overcome the challenges facing the country. The participants of the meeting assured their cooperation for legislation and smooth proceedings in the Assembly.
He also stressed on the need that all political parties should have commonality of views on the solution of the challenges faced by masses in the country. The participants of the meeting appreciated Asad Qaiser for playing the non-partisan role as Speaker National Assembly during the sittings of the House and assured the Speaker their all-out cooperation in order to have friendly environment during the proceedings of the House.
