The Karachi Port handled 231,728 tonnes of cargo comprising 150,877 tonnes of import cargo and 80,851 tonnes of export cargo including 3,490 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargos of 150,877 tonnes comprised of 55,941 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,384 tonnes of bulk cargo; 11,500 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 2,600 tonnes of rock phosphate and 78,452 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 80,851 tonnes comprised of 68,035 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,186 tonnes of bulk cargo and 11,630 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 3,490 containers comprising of 916 containers import and 2,574 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 331 of 20's and 204 of 40's loaded while 21 of 20's and 77 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 408 of 20's and 300 of 40's loaded containers while 74 of 20's and 746 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eight ships namely CMA CGM Norma, YM Fortune, Szczecin Trader, Los Angeles Trader, Northern Discovery, Hafnia America, MT Khairpur and Aquila carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas and tug respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. MP The Belichick, TSM Pollux, Maria Bottiglieri, Interlink Levity, Aquila, Skylight and Chipolbrok Sun carrying containers, oil tankers, wheat, tug and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 134,701 tonnes comprising 96,815 tonnes of import cargo and 37,886 tonnes of export cargo including 2,771 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 96,815 tonnes includes 12,850 tonnes of palm oil; 41,100 tonnes of LNG; 23,470 tonnes of coal; 4,632 tonnes of soyabean seeds and 14,763 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 37,886 tonnes includes 37,886 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,771 containers comprising of 777 containers import and 1,994 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There was one ship namely Happy Helena carrying containers sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while three more ships namely MS Tiger, Crimson Kingdom and Tiger Tenacity carrying containers, soyabean seeds and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of seven vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean seed, LNG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as twelve vessels viz. MSC Maeva, Pyxis Ocean, Hong Dai, Bosch Hoek, Yasa Ilhan, Golar Gem, Malhari, Al-Thakhira, Constantinos, BW Panthar, Chemroad Wing and Andrey Pervozvanny respectively carrying containers, soyabean, coal, chemical, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. MSC Maeva, Al-Thakhira, Al-Soor-II and Chemroad Wing carrying containers, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday. There was one ship namely Al-Soor-II carrying diesel oil due to arrive on Monday. There are two ships namely ER Tokyo anf Maersk Pitisburgh carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
