Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Sirajul Haq has said that financial agreements are being finalised through non-elected people and International Monetary Fund (IMF) deals can have far-reaching consequences for the country. He said this while speaking at an Iftar dinner arranged by Jamaat-e-Islami for media persons here on Tuesday.
He said that the nation has rightfully rejected the IMF deal as they thought it a new trap of slavery. He said that the hands of the people signing the agreement are not clean either. Haq said that the IMF is the financial institution of those dancing at the tunes of the United States and had been established to control the economy of the poor countries without going to a war. He said for how long the fate of the nation would be decided by the non-elected people.
The JI emir said that the matter would not end with the IMF deal as there is an apprehension that the country would have to secure more loans to clear this loan by mortgaging the state institutions, adding that a day might come when even the country's airports would also be mortgaged with the IMF. Haq said that practically it is a non-elected government. He further said that there can be threats to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) while these people are around. Besides, he said, the country can lose some of its best friends.
The JI emir said that the government has accepted most humiliating terms of the IMF but did not opt for the most respectable alternative system based on Zakat and Ushr. He said that by burdening the country under heavy loans, questions would be asked about the national security and a stage might come when the nuclear programme of the country would have to be placed under the international control.
The JI emir said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are all the same and the masses have tried them one by one. Under their rule, the problems of the country and the nation have increased. He said the Jamaat-e-Islami is the only option for the nation in such a situation.
He said the past history of the Jamaat-e-Islami is clear and the whole nation acknowledges honesty and integrity of its leadership. He said that the present government is highly incompetent and unable to handle the economic problems of the nation. He said that the rulers are admitting that they could do nothing to recover $375 billion lying abroad.
