WhatsApp reportedly testing features to simplify ‘Media’ menu
Social media site WhatsApp is reportedly making some tweaks in its ‘Media’ section in order to simplify user experience and add more options.
Popular messaging app WhatsApp might be on to some new features and updates for its ‘Media’ section, where it will add new options for viewing media in individual or group chat and simplify the menu more by reducing the number of options visible, reported popular tipster WABetaInfo.
The reports suggest that the changes are initially made to Android beta builds version of the app. With these revamped options, users while browsing images in the media section of a chat will see new options namely ‘Show in chat’, ‘Set as’, and ‘Rotate’ in the three dot menu present on top right corner of the app.
WhatsApp might soon get fingerprint authentication for Android
‘Show in chat’ lets users trace the chat and show media directly in chat as to where it was originally shared. With the ‘Set as’ button, users will be able to select if they wish to set the file as a group icon, profile photo or wallpaper. Though the ‘set as’ option has been before, but has just been simplified. The
‘Rotate’ option will let users rotate the image numerous times directly from the preview screen without leaving WhatsApp, instead of tapping rotate left/right by opening the image, detailed Khaleej Times.
Meanwhile, it is unclear if or when the Facebook-owned firm will bring these updates to normal WhatsApp, as per Gadgets360.
