The Karachi Port handled 176,217 tonnes of cargo comprising 130,435 tonnes of import cargo and 45,782 tonnes of export cargo including 9,338 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargos of 130,435 tonnes comprised of 79,738 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,107 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,440 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 8,150 tonnes of rock phosphate and 35,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 45,782 tonnes comprised of 35,182 tonnes of containerised cargo; 300 tonnes of bulk cargo; 4,400 tonnes of wheat and 5,900 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 9,338 containers comprising of 5,939 containers import and 3,399 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,543 of 20's and 1,937 of 40's loaded while 90 of 20's and 216 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 958 of 20's and 503 of 40's loaded containers while 125 of 20's and 655 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely MS Tiger, KMTC Dubai, CMA CGM Lamartine, CSC Amethyst and Chipolbrok Sun carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. Hyundai Oakland, Irenes Reliance, ER Felixstowe, OOCL Shanghai, Star Osprey, Maria and Pacific Centurion carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 178,497 tonnes comprising 150,744 tonnes of import cargo and 27,753 tonnes of export cargo including 3,581 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 150,744 tonnes includes 36,000 tonnes of diesel oil; 15,000 tonnes of palm oil; 36,800 tonnes of LNG; 3,740 tonnes of coal; 10,000 tonnes of soyabean; 773 tonnes of bitumen and 48,431 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 27,753 tonnes includes 8,145 tonnes of cement and 19,608 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,581 containers comprising of 2,549 containers import and 1,032 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There are two ships namely Maersk Pitisburgh and Al-Thakhira carrying containers and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday afternoon and night hours respectively.
A total number of nine vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, bitumen, coal, cement, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as eleven vessels viz. Pyxis Ocean, Bosch Hoek, Arietta, Golar Gem, Malhari, Golar Snow, Constantinos, BW Panthar, SC Hai Kou, Shamrock Mercury and Andrey Pervozvanny respectively carrying soyabean, coal, chemical, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were two vessels viz. MOL Grandeur and Arietta carrying containers and coal respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely MOL Grandeur carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
There are three ships namely AS Aries, OOCL Washington and Maersk Bontonville carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
