ISLAMABAD: National Highway Authority (NHA) has been striving to construct network of highways and motorways in less-developed areas of the country with special focus on Balochistan. Work on federal road infrastructure projects in Balochistan was continuing to bring the area at par with the developed ones, an official of NHA told APP on Monday.

He said that for dualization and improvement of Yarik-Sagu-Zhob section of N-50 CPEC western alignment, Rs. 7000 million have been allocated in the Public Sector Development Programme out of which Rs. 600 million have been released.

For construction of 106km Basima-Khuzdar Highway, Rs. 500 million have been allocated in the present fiscal, he said out of which Rs. 200 million have been released while for construction of black top road Yakmach-Kharan highway Rs. 2000 million have been allocated in the PSDP of the ongoing fiscal year, he informed.

He said for National Highway Development Sector Improvement Programme a total of Rs. 3000 million have been allocated and Qila Saifullah-Loralai-Wagum Rud section of N-70 is being rehabilitated under this programme.

Moreover, Zhob-Mughalkot section of N-50 is also being rehabilitated under the scheme.

He said that Rs. 250 million have been allocated for rehabilitation and improvement of 120km Quetta-Dhadhar section of N-65 out of which Rs. 100 million have been released.

He said that Rs. 250 million have been allocated for 22 km Kararo-Wadh section of N-25, out of which Rs 100 million have been released.

He said that for widening and strengthening of 32 km section of Rakhi Gajj-Bewata section of N-70, Rs. 2000 million have been allocated while Rs. 40 million have been released so far.

For construction of 107 km Ziarat More- Kech-Hamai Road and Hamai-Sanjavi road Rs. 250 million have been earmarked out of which Rs 100 million have been released,he said.
