The Karachi Port handled 159,401 tonnes of cargo comprising 115,283 tonnes of import cargo and 44,118 tonnes of export cargo including 7,316 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargos of 115,283 tonnes comprised of 47,403 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,127 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,440 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 7,600 tonnes of rock phosphate and 46,713 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 44,118 tonnes comprised of 36,828 tonnes of containerised cargo; 200 tonnes of bulk cargo; 4,290 tonnes of wheat and 2,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 7,316 containers comprising of 3,342 containers import and 3,974 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,229 of 20's and 942 of 40's loaded while 143 of 20's and 43 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,012 of 20's and 531 of 40's loaded containers while 472 of 20's and 714 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Hyundai Oakland, Irenes Reliance and TSM Pollux carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There was one vessels viz. Al Safa carrying oil tanker currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 154,755 tonnes comprising 86,237 tonnes of import cargo and 68,518 tonnes of export cargo including 3,589 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 86,237 tonnes includes 19,584 tonnes of diesel oil; 3,750 tonnes of palm oil; 36,823 tonnes of coal; 11,889 tonnes of soyabean; 625 tonnes of bitumen and 13,566 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 68,518 tonnes includes 14,501 tonnes of cement and 54,017 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,589 containers comprising of 746 containers import and 2,843 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There were four ships namely Maersk Pitisburgh, ER Tokyo, MOL Grandeur and Al-Soor-II carrying containers and diesel oil respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning.
A total number of nine vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, soyabean, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as fourteen vessels viz. OOCL Washington, Maersk Bontonville, Beem, Pyxis Ocean, Bosch Hoek, Golar Gem, Malhari, Aziz Taraq, Golar Snow, Constantinos, BW Panthar, Fortune Hero, SC Hai Kou and Shamrock Mercury respectively carrying containers, bitumen, soyabean, coal, chemical, LNG, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. OOCL Washington, Maersk Bontonville, Aziz Taraq and Constantinos carrying containers, chemical and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were two ships namely AS Aries and BBC Confidence carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while another ship namely Ashiya Star carrying general cargo is due to arrive on Friday.
