Interior Minister Brig Ejaz Shah (retd) called on Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, here on Monday and discussed matters of mutual interest including law and order situation and steps for further improving the security situation in the province.
Provincial Law Minister Muhammad Basharat Raja, Chief Secretary, IG Police, ACS (Home) and Principal Secretary to CM were also present on the occasion. It was decided that federal government will support the Punjab government in matters concerning maintaining law and order situation and in this regard integrated coordination will be made between the Punjab government and federal government apart from adoption of necessary steps, to further improve the law and order and security situation.
A crackdown will be launched against the publication and distribution of literature based on religious animosity along with indiscriminate action against the hateful speeches.
The CM said that strict action will be initiated against those taking the law into their hands as no one can be allowed to do so. The rule of law will be ensured at every cost in the province because nothing is important than the protection of life and property of the people, he added.
Buzdar said that every possible step will be adopted for further improving the law and order situation and added that operation will be continued against the land grabbers.
Federal Interior Minister Ejaz Shah said that Interior Ministry will support the Punjab government with regard to law and order situation and added that he will also visit other provinces.
Moreover, Punjab CM Sardar Usman Buzdar has condoled the death of Agha Muhammad Akbar, senior journalist and former head of media of Pakistan Cricket Board and former Additional Chief Secretary Mehr Jeewan Khan.
In condolence messages, the CM prayed that may Almighty Allah rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear the loss with equanimity. The CM has also condoled the death of the daughter of cricketer Asif Ali and extended sympathies to the bereaved family.
