The National Assembly on Friday unanimously passed a resolution expressing deep grief and sorrow over sad demise of Federal Minister Sardar Ali Mohammad Khan Mahar.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan moved the resolution in the Lower House of the Parliament. The House unanimously passed the resolution. The resolution recognised the services of Mahar for the people and strengthening democracy in the country.
According to the resolution, "This House expresses its deep sorrow and grief over the sad demise of a veteran and committed politician, sitting minister and MNA Ali Mohammad Khan Mahar; recognises his services for the people and democracy in Pakistan; and also extends deepest sympathies to his family, loved ones, his constituents and to the scores across Pakistan who mourn his irreparable loss."
The members appreciated the services of late Mahar. The members of the House also expressed deep sorrow and grief over the tragic death of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior leader Qamar Zaman Kaira's son Osama Qamar.
They said that Mahar remained Sindh chief minister from 2002 to 2004. He had also been a member of the Lower House since 2008. The members said that the late MNA had always worked for the people of Ghotki and Sindh.
The members prayed to Allah Almighty to shower His blessings upon the departed souls and grant patience to the bereaved families to bear the loss with fortitude. Those who spoke on the occasion included Amir Dogar, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Khawaja Asif and Maulana Akbar Chitrali.
Later, the chair adjourned the House till 2:00pm on Monday without taking up the agenda of the day due to the death of Mahar.
