A total of 311297 children under five years of age will be vaccinated during upcoming anti-polio campaign in Dir Lower. This was stated during district polio eradication committee meeting held on Friday at the office of deputy commissioner at Balambat with deputy commissioner Dir Lower, Shaukat Ali in the chair, in which it was said that a proper activity plan was prepared for the upcoming anti polio campaign to be started from June 17 next month.
District Health Officer (DHO) Dir Lower, Dr Shaukat Ali, EPI coordinator Dr Irshad, heads of all line departments, representatives from WHO and officials of law enforcement agencies attended the meeting. The meeting was informed that as many as 311297 children under five years of age will be vaccinated in the upcoming anti-polio campaign in the district while a target of 135498 houses has been set to visit.
The meeting further said that a total of 843 mobile teams have been constituted whereas 71 fix teams, 47 transit and 18 roaming teams will take part in anti-polio campaign. It added that during the previous campaign only 7 UCs or 40 percent out of the total 43 union councils in Lower Dir had achieved same day coverage due to baseless propaganda against polio vaccination. The meeting said the total number of still missed children in the district was 2199 till date.
