Another spell of heatwave is likely to strike Karachi from May 25 to 27, with a maximum temperature ranging up to 41 degrees Celsius, the Met Office has alerted. The heatwave spell with scorching heat is also expected to grip the city's surrounding areas as well due to the northwesterly wind flow during the daytime, according to the Met, alerting the authorities to step up measures to cope with any untoward incidents.
Humidity during the heat waves is expected to drop to 40 percent with hot and humid weather conditions. "A westerly wave is affecting upper parts of the country, likely to affect during next 24 hours and persist over northern areas till Sunday," the Met said. In the next 24 hours: Mainly hot and dry weather is expected in the most parts of the country with an isolated rain-thunderstorm in Malakand and Hazara Divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
In the last 24 hours: Scattered dust-thunderstorm and rain occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad and Kashmir, while isolated fall in Quetta, Zhob, Sibbi, Makran, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Larkana Divisions. Hot and dry weather remained elsewhere in the country.
Maximum temperature was recorded in Shaheed Benazirabad and Jaccobabad 43 degrees Celsius, each, Rohri, Sakrand, Mohenjo-Daro, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur, Turbat, Noorpur Thal and Mithi 42, each.
Upper Dir and Kotli received maximum rainfall as 39 mm, each, Kalam 32 mm, Mangla 30 mm, Malamjabba 27 mm, Joharabad 25 mm, Noorpurthal 24 mm, Bahawalnager 22 mm, Rawalakot 21 mm, Saidu Sharif and Sargodha 19 mm, each, Lower Dir and Jhelum 16 mm, each, Chitral, Dalbandin and Parachinar 15 mm, each, Lasbella 14 mm, Drosh and Pattan 11 mm, each, Murree and Gujranwala 10 mm, each, Garidupatta, Bahawalpur 9 mm, Kakul and Mandi Bahauddin 8 mm, each.
