The Customs Intelligence Sadiqabad on Friday foiled an attempt to smuggle huge quantity of betel nuts to Karachi from Lahore. According to details, credible information was received that some unscrupulous elements were transporting substantial quantity of betel nuts to Karachi from Lahore under the guise of some exportable products.
Reacting on this information, a staff of customs intelligence under the supervision Muhammad Akmal Hashmi mounted stiff vigilance to avert the smuggling of said community. Resultantly, the staff has intercepted a trailer TLC-587 loaded with Gypsum stone. During thorough examination, around 220 bags of betel nuts have been recovered, which were concealed beneath the Gypsum stone. Consequent upon recovery, the contraband item was seized and the case has been registered.
