Vice-President Wang Qishan's two-day visit to Pakistan, starting on Sunday will inject new momentum into further developing the two countries' all-weather strategic partnership, officials said here on Saturday. The Chinese government attached high importance to the visit, wishing it opens new avenues of bilateral cooperation in meeting the common aspirations of their people.
During visit, Wang will meet with President Dr Arif Alvi, and hold talks with Prime Minister Imran Khan. Both sides will exchange views on bilateral relations and international and regional issues. According to the officials, Wang's visit to Pakistan will further deepen high-level exchanges between the two countries, consolidate their friendship and mutual trust. It help promote the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and pragmatic cooperation in various fields, and enhance people-to-people exchanges.

Wang Qishan born 19 July 1948 is a is one of the leading figures behind China's foreign affairs , along with Xi Jinping and Li Keqiang. Between 2012 and 2017, Wang had served as the Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, the Communist Party's anti-corruption body and a member of the Politburo Standing Committee, China's highest decision making institution.
He was instrumental in carrying out General Secretary Xi Jinping's anti-corruption campaign since 2013.
Wang gained prominence in China's financial sector in the late 1980s. In 1994, Wang became the Governor of the Central Construction Bank. He then successively served in three regional roles: Vice-Governor of Guangdong, Party Secretary of Hainan, and Mayor of Beijing. Wang then served as Vice Premier in charge of finance and commercial affairs from March 2008 to March 2013, during which he also gained a seat on the party's Politburo.
