The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has approved 29 projects of Rs12.244 billion. Some projects were deferred/not discussed due to inadequate design and other deficiencies, and were returned to their respective departments for rectification. The meeting of the Provincial Working Development Party was held with the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Dr Shahzad Khan Bangash in the chair, the other day.
Besides, Secretary Planning & Development (P&D) Department, Atif Rehman, members of PDWP, representatives of Planning Commission, and concerned departments and district level officers of merged areas of erstwhile FATA attended the meeting.
The forum considered 41 projects of different sectors including Health, Water, Roads, Urban Development, Local Government, Relief & Rehabilitation, Forestry, Elementary & Secondary Education, DWSS, Population Welfare, and Multi-sectoral Development sectors for the uplift of the province and specifically merged areas.
The forum approved health sector projects including "ADP 319 (2006-07) 0600149 Additional Amount Purchase of Land for HQ Hospital, Khar Bajaur (Rs72.711 million). ADP 220 (2013-14) 050139 Capacity Building of Health sector in FATA (Liabilities of Salaries of Specialist Doctor) (Rs1.088 million), Mobile Hospital Programme in FATA (Phase-III), Up-gradation of Centre of Excellence for Vitro Retinal Disease in KTH, Peshawar, Up-gradation of THQ Hospital Kabal to Cat-C, District Swat (PC-II Approved on 01-11-2017)".
Similarly, the committee also approved projects of water sector included Sarobi Small Dam, North Waziristan district, Khara Ghara Small Dam in FR Bannu, construction of 10 Kms B/T Road (Balance Length of Badar Manitol Shakl B/T Road 10 Kms) in District South Waziristan, black topping of roads in District South Waziristan, Phase-II(25-Kms)".
The projects approved in road sector were included the construction/improvement & rehabilitation of black topped roads in upper, lower & Baizai Sub-Division in District Mohmand, F/S, Des/const of road and street and other projects.
The projects approved in merged areas were included MDTF-World Bank funded projects, establishment of model sanitation villages in southern tribal districts of KP, rehabilitation/improvement of under developed areas of Swabi and gasification of Sudher/Yar Hussain.
Similarly, the forum also approved projects of relief and rehabilitation sector included the Establishment of Emergency Rescue Services (Rescue 1122) in 07 Tribal Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Establishment of Emergency Rescue Services (Rescue 1122) in sub-divisions (Frontier Regions) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Establishment of Rehabilitation & Reconstruction Unit,
The approved projects of Forestry sector were included a forestation in Bajaur Agency, Torkham and Madakhell, Water Shed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Promotion & Development of Tree Coverage in F R Peshawar, amelioration of degraded environment in District Khyber.
The forum also approved projects of removal of staff deficiencies in newly merged areas in education, grant in aid in HQ-40 Div for Establishment of Cadet College Sararogha in South Waziristan, Grant in aid in HQ-40 Div for Establishment of Cadet College Wana in South Waziristan.
The approved project of population welfare sector was the consolidation of existing service delivery centre, while the single project of the multi-sector development sector was the Stunting Prevention and Rehabilitation Integrated Nutrition Gain (KP Spring Project) (SDGs).
