Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar Monday directed that foolproof security arrangements should be ensured and the police should work with renewed zeal and hard work to further improve the law and order situation in the province. "The law enforcement agencies should remain fully vigilant and additional police force should be deputed in markets and shopping centres.
Senior police officers should also remain available in the field to monitor the security arrangements," he said, adding: "Foolproof security of Eid-ul-Fitr congregations should be ensured as well and implementation on the devised security plan should be ensured at every cost." Provincial Law and Local Bodies Minister Muhammad Basharat Raja called on Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and discussed different matters including security arrangements on Chand Raat and Eid-ul-Fitr, cleanliness arrangements and safety of swings.
The CM directed to ensure the best cleanliness arrangement of cities and towns on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and added that action plan devised for the cleanliness should be fully implemented. He said neat and clean environment on Eid will rejuvenate the joys of the citizens. Line departments will have to play their active role to keep the cities neat and clean, he added.
He said the line departments should also be very vigilant for the cleanliness of small cities and the safety of swings fixed at parks and other recreational places should be ensured at every cost. Some tragic incidents of swings' collapse had occurred in the past; prior planning should, therefore, be made to stop such incidents in future and the administration should give particular attention to the safety of the swings.
Moreover, the CM Usman Buzdar has taken strict notice of complaints of the passengers about overcharging and asked authorities concerned to take action against the transporters involved in overcharging. He directed the Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to take action against transporters found involved in overcharging. He said that overcharging the passengers on Eid is not acceptable and legal action will be initiated against those responsible for it.
The CM has also expressed gratitude to the farmers on the success of wheat procurement campaign. He appreciated the performance of food minister, secretary and field staff. "Farmers have been given full reward of their hard work for the first time. An amount of Rs 106 billion has immediately been paid for the procurement of 332,500 tonnes wheat and provision of gunny bags to all the farmers has been ensured without any discrimination," he said, adding: "I will personally monitor the wheat procurement campaign; the PTI-led government is a farmer-friendly and the promises made with the farmers have been fulfilled."
