Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shahbaz Sharif is likely to return to Pakistan on June 8. Shahbaz Sharif spent about seven weeks in London for medical treatment. All his tests are now complete and doctors have given green signal to him to travel to Pakistan. However, on June 7, doctors would conduct final medical check up, sources said.
Shahbaz left for London in April to visit his grandchildren and to undergo a medical check up, following which doctors advised him not to travel. On return to Pakistan, Shahbaz will meet his mother. He will also visit Kot Lakhpat prison to meet his elder brother Nawaz Sharif facing imprisonment after convicted by an accountability court.
Shahbaz Sharif will hold a meeting with PML-N leaders to chalk out strategy against the PTI government. It may be noted that Shahbaz Sharif was arrested in the Ashiana Housing case on October 5, 2018, and released on bail in February by the Lahore High Court. Shahbaz Sharif's name was also removed from the exit control list (ECL) by the federal cabinet.
The PML-N was all set to start a series of protest against the PTI government over soaring inflation, high prices of gas and electricity and causing dent to the country's economy. The sources claimed that the PML-N will kick-off its protest campaign against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government from Lal Haveli - the residence of Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed.
The PML-N is giving final touches to the arrangements wherein consultations are under way for ensuring maximum participation of workers in the anti-government movement, the party sources said, adding: "The PML-N will start the joint protest campaign of all the opposition parties from Rawalpindi." In the first protest demonstration, the central leadership of the PML-N will not participate, while its youth wing has been assigned the responsibility of gathering as many workers as they can and expand the circle of anti-government protests in every nook and corner of the Rawalpindi city, the sources added.
