The foreign investors' interest in Pakistan stock market seems to be reviving as the offshore participants emerged net buyers of shares during the first five months of current calendar year. According to the current data of National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited (NCCPL), the foreign investors remained net buyers of equities worth $52.663 million in the period from January 01 to May 31 as compared to outflows of over $59.401 million in the same period in 2018.
The data shows the Pakistani capital market witnessed inflows of $18.415 million of foreign investors' portfolio investment (FIPI) only in the month of May 2019. The offshore participants withdrew an amount of $73.244 million from the Pakistani capital market in the same month in 2018.
Although the Pakistani stock market has lost 2.0 percent only in the month of May 2019, however foreign investors are investing here on low levels having expectations of healthy margins. The foreign investors expect that the Pakistan stock market would perform better after implementation of IMF program.
