Transporters returned additional fare charged from passengers on Eid, as the district administration took action against them on a direction from the Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar. It may be noted that the Chief Minister Punjab had taken notice of the trend of charging additional fare from passengers intending to travel back to their home towns on the occasion of Eid. He had directed the Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to take action against transporters without prejudice. Accordingly, the district administration took control of the situation and ensured returned of additional fare being charged from the passengers at various bus stops.
Passengers have expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister Punjab for taking notice of the extortion on the part of the transporters and expressed the hope that the government would remain vigilant in future as well in the larger interest of the public.
