As many as 177 rest houses owned by various departments of the Punjab government, which were earlier used by government officials have been opened for public across the province. The Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar took it to twitter and announced conversion of state-owned rest houses into public rest houses. The income generated from these [rest houses] shall not only be used for community development but for maintenance of these rest houses as well.
Out of these restaurants, 41 guest houses belong to the forest department while 17 others are owned by the agriculture department, 90 rest/guest houses are of the irrigation department while 10 rest/guest houses are of the C&W department, 15 rest/guest houses of LG&CD department and four of the livestock department.
Details of such rest/guest houses are available at the websites of concerned departments and the website of Tourism Development Corporation Punjab. A spokesman of the provincial government said these rest/guest houses have been opened for the people in accordance with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan and the people can book them by checking their details at the official websites.
