Apple recently announced its earnings for December quarter and the results aren’t really positive. Since its revenue dropped by 15% as compared to the same time last year, it is now considering to lower iPhone prices in some countries to boost sales.

Apple informed about how its iPhone sales aren’t going as planned and have slowed down leading to a 15% drop in revenue leading to overall firm’s revenue go down 5% from a year ago. In a recent interview, CEO Tim Cook said that some countries had a dramatic iPhone price increase over time and hinted at lowering the prices.

“As we’ve gotten into January and assessed the macroeconomic condition in some of those markets we’ve decided to go back to more commensurate with what our local prices were a year ago in hopes of helping the sales in those areas,” Cook said.

Apple believes more climate change disasters beneficial for iPhone

Cook stated that emerging markets tended to experience the biggest price discrepancies with the new iPhone models and since January, Apple has started to re-price its phones to protect customers from the impact of currency fluctuations.

Cook mentioned that a strong dollar makes products comparatively more expensive and has thus, affected its sales in emerging markets. Apple has blamed many issues of its lower iPhones sales including the economy slowdown in China, reported BBC.

Moreover, Mashable reported that Apple also informed about the positive outcome saying that there were over 1.4 billion active devices and over 900 million iPhones. Revenue for Apple’s other products including iPad, Mac and wearables were selling better than expected.
