The incidents of robbery, dacoity and snatching at gunpoint registered an increase during the last week in the federal capital. According to data gathered by Business Recorder here on Saturday, over 10 cases of various kinds of theft, five cases of car-lifting, three cases of kidnapping and two cases of murder were reported to various police stations of the city during the last week.
The most "favourite" areas for the criminal gangs were within the limits of Sabzi Mandi, Bani Gala, Bhara Kahu and Industrial Area police stations. Sabzi Mandi police station registered two cases each of theft and one case of carjacking. One citizen Tariq Mehmood filed a complaint with Sabzi Mandi police station that unknown pickpockets stole his mobile phone valuing Rs 35,000 when he was buying fruits and vegetables.
In another incident, one Aamir Nazir filed a complaint with Sabzi Mandi police station that the two armed persons riding a bike snatched his mobile phone and Rs 139,000 cash from him.
The motor vehicle thieves stole a bike bearing registration number LEX-6612 valuing Rs 50,000. During the aforementioned period, Bani Gala police station registered two cases of kidnapping and one case of dacoity. One Waqar Naqvi informed Bani Gala police station that one Hammad along with two other persons kidnapped his sister. In another incident, one Naseer Hussain filed a complaint with Bani Gala police station that the unknown persons kidnapped his sister.
One victim Umer Farooq informed Bani Gala police station that three armed persons broke into his house, snatched gold ornaments and Rs 300,000 cash at gunpoint and escaped from the scene.
Bhara Kahu police station registered one case each of robbery and car-lifting during the aforementioned period. One Fareed Asghar informed Bhara Kahu police station that unidentified robbers stole a laptop, camera, mobile phones and gold ornaments valuing Rs 180,000 from his house.
