A downward trend in prices of important kitchen items, including vegetable, chicken meat, eggs, flour and others was witnessed in local market, according to the survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Sunday.
According to the survey, live chicken/meat is being sold at Rs 153 per kg in local market, which was selling at Rs 181 per kg in the previous week. A dozen of farm eggs are being sold at Rs 90 and Rs 100. Price of cow meat was remained unchanged as available at Rs 400 and Rs 420 per kg, while mutton beef being sold at Rs 800 per kg.
It further witnessed that tomatoes are being sold at Rs 30 per kg against the price of Rs 40 per kg in the last week. But, prices of onion were remained high-side as available at Rs 50 and Rs 60 per kg. Similarly, price of ginger has decreased at Rs 200 per kg which was selling at Rs 240 per kg in the previous week. Chinese garlic is being sold at Rs 150 per kg while others available at Rs 100 and Rs 120 per kg. Lemon is being sold at Rs 160 and Rs 200 per kg. Cucumber is being sold at Rs 20 per kg against the price of Rs 30 per kg in the last week.
The survey further revealed that prices of peas, arvi, capsicum and ladyfinger have become costlier in local market as available at Rs 250 per kg, Rs 150 per kg and Rs 120 per kg and Rs 100 per kg respectively. Cabbage was priced at Rs 60 per kg while cauliflower is being sold at Rs 50per kg in retail market.
Apple and round gourds are being sold within range at Rs 60 and Rs 80 per kg. Calabash was available at Rs 60 per kg, while torai is being sold at Rs 80 per kg. Green chili was available at Rs 120 per kg against the price of Rs 150-200 per kg in the previous week. Radish is being sold at Rs 50-60 per kg.
The prices of fruits also decreased in local market, the survey said. Water melon is being sold at Rs 20 per kg against Rs 30 per kg; melon is being sold at Rs 30 per kg against the price of Rs 50 per kg in the previous week.
Green coloured apple is being sold at Rs 120 per kg against the price of Rs 100 per kg in the previous week, while red-coloured apples are being available at Rs 150 and Rs 200 per kg in local market. Peach is being sold at Rs 150 per kg.
The survey witnessed that the prices of food grains/pulses were remained unchanged in retail market. Gram flour (baisen) is being sold at Rs 120 per kg against the price of Rs 140 per kg in the previous week. Sugar is being sold at Rs 70 and Rs 72 per kg.
Dates are being available at Rs 160 and Rs 200 per kg which was available at Rs 250 per kg and Rs 300 per kg in last week. However, the prices of different brands of beverages have remained unchanged in local market.
Good quality rice (sela) is being sold at Rs 150 per kg and Rs 140 per kg, while toota rice priced at Rs 80 per kg. Big size white channa is being sold at Rs 140 and Rs 120 per kg.
Dal mash is available at Rs 140 per kg, dal masoor at Rs 100 per kg and Rs 90 per kg, the survey noticed, and added that dhoti dal priced at Rs 130 per kg, red bean is being sold at Rs 140 and Rs 180 per kg which was selling at Rs 120 and Rs 160 per kg respectively. Moonge is being sold at Rs 150 per kg.
The survey further said that white lobiya is being sold at Rs 120 per kg which was selling at Rs 110 per kg. Dal chilka (black) was available at Rs 140 per kg while dal chilka (green) priced at Rs 130 per kg. Dal channa is being sold at Rs 120 per kg.
According to the survey, the prices of cooking oil/ghee of different brands and quality were remained unchanged in the retail market as available within range of Rs 170, Rs 180 and Rs 200 per litre/kg.
