Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed Monday invited Japan to become a partner in the projects of high speed trains from Rawalpindi to Lahore and Karachi to Hyderabad. According to the railways spokesperson, the proposal was presented in a meeting with Japanese Ambassador Kuninori Matsuda here on Monday. The railways minister also invited Japanese companies for investment in the country, while urging them to take benefit from business opportunities in the Railways Locomotive Factory Risalpur and Carriage Factory Islamabad. The official said that during the meeting, Rashid said that Pakistan Railways is taking steps towards regional connectivity through rail for development in the region. Pakistan Railways is establishing Quetta-Taftan rail network, he added. He invited Japan to become a partner in the projects of high speed trains from Rawalpindi to Lahore and Karachi to Hyderabad. Pakistan desires to benefit from Japanese technology and skills, the minister added.
