Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry is entering into a long-term collaboration with the Punjab Agriculture Department and Everest International Expo (Pvt) Ltd to foster development and diversification of commercial exchanges and economic cooperation in the agriculture sector.
A memorandum of understanding is going to be signed between the three organizations on 22nd June 2019 (tomorrow). In this regard, a meeting took place that was attended by Punjab Minister for Agriculture Malik Nauman Ahmed Langrial, PCJCCI Senior Vice President Ahmed Hasnain and Secretary, Agriculture Department Dr Wasif Khursheed,
Speaking on the occasion, the minister agriculture said that agriculture based business was the fastest growing sector by unleashing umpteen opportunities and strengthening the supply chain in Pakistan's agricultural scenario. He also said the MoU being signed by the three sister organisations would provide a unique opportunity to local and international exhibitors to market their products in Pakistan and develop linkages. It will provide fruitful B2B and B2C interactions with prospective national and international businesses which will help in increasing export, he added.
PCJCCI senior vice president said that either, cotton and wheat or many other agricultural crops yield per acre in Pakistan is lower than both China and India. Our lower agricultural productivity means that Pakistani farmers are unable to compete with their counterparts in other countries around the world, he added.
PCJCCI aims at conducing different workshops and B2B meetings with Chinese companies for learning innovative and better techniques of farming he said adding that PCJCCI would make investments with the help of Chinese companies, in new seeds, farming technology, and techniques, mechanization and the water infrastructure which will ensure high return and generate employment in rural areas reducing rural poverty.
Everest International Expo (Pvt) Ltd's chief executive officer Fa Wen Yen said that the MoU would be creating joint business activities between Pakistan and China in the agriculture sector under the umbrella of CPEC as well.
