Islamabad police Saturday claimed to have arrested the main culprit involved in the murder of 10-year-old girl Farishta who was killed allegedly after rape in the outskirts of federal capital. DIG (Operations) Waqar Uddin Syed while speaking with media persons said police have arrested main culprit namely Nisar, 50, in Farishta murder case. The suspect is the neighbour of deceased family. The accused has been produced before the court and sent to jail.
He said it was totally a blind murder case but police due to day and night efforts nabbed the main culprit. Two cases against the accused had already been registered as he tried to rape two children in past as well, DIG told. The DIG said two teams had been constituted for investigation into this case. DNA test could not provide any help in this case, he told.
According to police, dead body of Farishta who went missing on May 15 from Chak Shehzad area was found in nearby forest. She was killed allegedly after rape. The victim family belongs to Mohmand district. The family reported to police on the same day after Farishta gone missing.
According to Gull Nabi, the ill-fated father of the girl who is residing here at Ali Pur area, Farishta left home at 5pm on May 15 for playing with other children but did not return home.
