Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh has expressed gratitude to Qatar for announcing $3 billion in deposits and direct investments in Pakistan. Finance Minister took to twitter and wrote, "(I) want to thank the Emir of Qatar HRH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for announcing $3 billion in deposits and investments for Pakistan and for Qatri's affirmation to further develop relations between the two countries."
Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani arrived here on a two -day visit to Pakistan on Saturday last and held one-on-one meeting with the Prime Minister followed by delegation level discussions which concluded with signing of many memoranda of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in various fields. However, when Minister of State for Revenue Hammad Azhar was asked on Monday after the meeting of special committee on agriculture, with regard to $3 billion in deposit by the Qatar, he stated that various proposals were discussed but he would be unable to comment unless things mature. An official of Finance Ministry said that $2 billion would be supportive to the country's foreign exchange reserves.
