Consul General United State of America at Lahore called on Divisional Commissioner Mehmud Javed Bhatti at his office here on Wednesday. Public Affairs Officer Michel Genain, Deputy Commissioner Sardar Saifullah Dogar, SSP Operation Syed Ali Raza, MD WASA Ch Faqir Muhammad, ACG Musawar Khan Niazi and other officers were also present on the occasion.
The Divisional Commissioner welcomed the American Consul and apprised her of the geographical & cultural aspects and development activities in Faisalabad division. He informed that Faisalabad possessed prominent status in industry and agriculture including textile sector. He added that Asia's largest Agriculture University and other agriculture research institution were serving here while mega industrial estate was also established to promote the industrialisation and investment.
During the meeting matters related to education, health, environment and other sectors of social development also came under discussion besides exchanging the views of mutual interest.
Deputy Commissioner Sardar Saifullah Dogar informed the American Consul General about the historical status of Faisalabad and said that this city was established by organised planning and design which is progressing rapidly. He added that all out measures had been taken to preserve the cultural heritage and historical buildings in Faisalabad.
SSP Operation Syed Ali Raza informed about the performance of the district police and strategy to maintain the law & order situation in the district.
Consul General Colleen Crenwelge thanked Divisional Commissioner and appreciated the development of Faisalabad in different sectors. She expressed her interest in the development of education and informed that the cooperation was being extended by US Government for the English language courses and advanced education of different fields for the students of Pakistan.
She added that detailed information have been achieved regarding the history & culture of this region by this visit. She lauded the services rendered by the government and social level for the welfare of the public and regional development.
Meanwhile, Ambassador of UAE Hamad Obaid Alzaabi also called on Divisional Commissioner Mehmud Javed Bhatti at his office. The Commissioner welcomed the Ambassador and informed him about the lifestyle of the people and other aspects of this region. He informed that Faisalabad, the 3rd biggest city of Pakistan, possessed famous status regarding producing the textile products.
The Ambassador of UAE paid thanks to the Divisional Commissioner and other officers for great reception and showed his keen interest in the culture of different tribes in Punjab and specially mentioned the Quran Mahal established at Shrine of Hazrat Abu Anees Sufi Barakt Ali Ludhianvi and hand written Holy Quran.
He said that Pakistan has a major status in Islamic Counties and the people of both the countries are tied in friendly and Islamic brotherly relations. He expressed his pleasure over the visit of Faisalabad. Later, the souvenirs were exchanged between Divisional Commissioner Mehmud Javed Bhatti and Ambassador of UAE His Excellency Hamad Obaid Alzaabi.
Later, US Consul General Lahore, Colleen Crenwelge on Wednesday visited the University of Agriculture Faisalabad and called on Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ashraf at the Meeting Room. The meeting discussed the English Access Micro Scholarship Program and the area of mutual interests.
