The Karachi Port handled 163,715 tonnes of cargo comprising 118,524 tonnes of import cargo and 45,191 tonnes of export cargo including 4,203 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargos of 118,524 tonnes comprised of 43,901 tonnes of containerised cargo; 26,591 tonnes of bulk cargo; 3,791 tonnes of canola; 1,345 tonnes of DAP; 5,210 tonnes of palm kernel and 37,686 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 45,191 tonnes comprised of 27,428 tonnes of containerised cargo; 550 tonnes of bulk cargo; 13,542 tonnes of stone; 2,171 tonnes of rice and 1,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,203 containers comprising of 2,060 containers import and 2,143 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 950 of 20's and 526 of 40's loaded while 06 of 20's and 26 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 552 of 20's and 323 of 40's loaded containers while 201 of 20's and 372 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eight ships namely Northern Dedication, Seamax Bridgeport, ALS Venus, Ginga Kite, SC Ningbo, Norstar Intrepid, African Falcon and Du Juan Song carrying containers, oil tankers, mogas, barite lumps and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were ten vessels viz. Beijing Bridge, Hyundai Oakland, Diyala, SC Ningbo, Nordic Basel, Chemroute Sun, Kiran Europe, Du Juan Song, Avra and Zea Singapore carrying containers, oil tankers, fertilizer and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 164,445 tonnes comprising 136,781 tonnes of import cargo and 27,664 tonnes of export cargo including 1,837 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 136,781 tonnes includes 49,618 tonnes of LNG; 9,500 tonnes of palm oil; 44,862 tonnes of coal; 4,935 tonnes of soyabean; 18,627 tonnes of steel coil; 2,000 tonnes of mogas and 7,239 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 27,664 tonnes includes 27,664 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 1,837 containers comprising of 381 containers import and 1,456 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. There were two ships namely Atlantic Flosta and Ceylon Breeze carrying containers and soyabean respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while three more ships namely Aeriko, Al-Jassasiya and Nord Mars carrying coal, LNG and diesel oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, rice, coal, soyabean, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as seven vessels viz. Conti Cortesia, Stena Important, Chiarad Damato, SBI Tethys, Ariadne, TBC Progress and NCC Qassim respectively carrying containers, soyabean, canola seeds, coal, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three ships viz. Conti Cortesia, Ariadne and Chiarad Damato respectively carrying containers, coal and canola seeds respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and Grains and Furtilizer Terminal respectively on Monday.
There are three ships namely MSC Pine, Maersk Kinsington and AS Paola carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
