Monthly inflation measured through Consumer Price Index (CPI) has witnessed an increase of 0.4 percent in June as compared with May and on an annual basis it witnessed an increase of 8.9 percent in June 2019 against June 2018. According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistic monthly price indicator issued here on Tuesday, in June 2019 CPI inflation on monthly basis was recorded at 246.82 points against 245.94 points in May 2019 while it was recorded at 226.67 points in June 2018. The data said that CPI inflation in June 2018 was recorded at 5.2 percent which now has jumped to 8.9 percent.
On month-on-month basis, it increased by 0.4 percent in June 2019 as compared to an increase of 0.8 percent in May, while there was an increase of 0.6 percent in June 2018. Core inflation measured by non-food non-energy CPI (Core NFNE) increased by 7.2 percent on annual basis in June 2019 as compared to an increase of 7.2 percent in May and 7.1 percent in June 2018. On Monthly basis, it increased by 0.3 percent in June 2019 as compared to an increase of 0.4 percent in May, and an increase of 0.3 percent in June 2018.
Core inflation, measured by 20 percent weighted trimmed mean CPI (Core Trimmed) increased by 7.3 percent on yearly basis in June 2019 as compared to 7.5 percent in May and by 5.4 percent in June 2018. On monthly basis, it increased by 0.4 percent in June 2019 as compared to an increase of 0.4 percent in May and an increase of 0.2 percent in June 2018.
Sensitive Price Index (SPI) inflation which calculates fluctuations in the prices of 53 essential daily use items on annual basis increased by 10.6 percent in June 2019 as compared to an increase of 10.8 percent in May and an increase of 1.9 percent in June 2018. On monthly basis, SPI increased by 1.6 percent as compared to an increase of 1.2 percent in May and an increase of 1.8 in June 2018.
Wholesales Price Index (WPI) inflation on annual basis witnessed a increase of 12.7 percent in June 2019 as compared to an increase of 14.0 percent in May and an increase of 7.6 percent in June 2018. WPI inflation on monthly basis increased by 0.3 percent in June 2019 as compared to an increase of 1.4 percent in May and an increase of 1.5 percent in June 2018.
Prices of the following food items witnessed an increase on monthly basis; potatoes, 17.28 percent, cigarettes, 7.75 percent, sugar, 6.16 percent, pulse Moong, 5.05 percent, gur, 4.25 percent, pulse Mash, 3.69 percent, onions, 2.95 percent, wheat flour, 2.21 percent, wheat, 2.15 percent, bakery and confectionary items, 1.88 percent, eggs, 1.57 percent, pulse Masoor, 1.33 percent, milk fresh, 1.05 percent, meat, 1.02 percent, vegetable ghee, 1.01 percent, Besan, 0.75 percent, and rice, 0.35 percent.
Prices of the following food items witnessed a reduction on month-on-month basis; fresh fruit, 12.33 percent, tomatoes, 9.20 percent, chicken, 5.22 percent, fresh vegetables, 2.65 percent, fish, 1.40 percent, beans, 0.91 percent, and dry fruits, 0.06 percent. Prices of the following non-food items witnessed an increase on monthly basis in June; motor fuel, 3.41 percent, personal equipments, 2.66 percent, construction input items, 1.57 percent, household servant, 1.40 percent, kerosene oil, 0.90 percent, cosmetics, 0.56 percent, and construction wage rates, 0.52 percent, while in June only cotton cloth price witnessed a reduction of 0.03 percent.
On annual basis, prices of the following food items in June 2019 witnessed an upward trend as compared with June 2018; onions, 72.13 percent, pulse Moong, 42.67 percent, sugar, 33.50 percent, gur, 27.85 percent, cigarettes, 23.64 percent, fresh vegetables, 18.05 percent, spices, 16.59 percent, pulse Mash (washed), 16.39 percent, potatoes, 13.36 percent, meat, 12.77 percent, pulse gram, 12.47 percent, beans, 10.67 percent, pulse Masoor, 9.18 percent, wheat, 8.79 percent, vegetable ghee, 8.08 percent, cooking oil, 7.73 percent, rice, 6.17 percent, Besan, 5.55 percent, and milk fresh, 4.48 percent.
On annual basis, prices of the following food items in June 2019 witnessed a downward trend as compared with June 2018; chicken, 12.07 percent, tomatoes, 6.36 percent, eggs, 5.59 percent, gram whole, 3.87 percent, and fresh fruit, 0.91 percent. On annual basis, prices of the following non-food items in June 2019 witnessed an downward trend as compared with June 2018; gas, 85.31 percent, motor fuel, 24.90 percent, motor vehicles, 12.73 percent, motor vehicle accessories, 11.44 percent, construction input items, 11.20 percent, kerosene oil, 10.60 percent, household servant, 10.16 percent, cosmetics, 8.95 percent, transport services, 8.92 percent, construction wage rates, 6.98 percent, and house rent, 6.35 percent.
Prices of following commodities on account of WPI on monthly basis increased in June as compared with May 2019; potatoes, 19.45 percent, stimulant & spice crops, 6.37 percent, vegetables, 6.28 percent, sugar, 5.84 percent, auto tyres, 5.26 percent, wheat flour, 4.48 percent, petrol, 3.94 percent, cotton seeds, 3.71 percent, other oil seeds, 3.49 percent, maize, 3.38 percent, Mobil oil, 3.11 percent, Bajra, 2.96 percent, wheat, 2.93 percent, diesel oil, 2.82 percent, steel bar & sheets, 2.76 percent, oil cakes, 2.26 percent, pulses, 1.97 percent, kerosene oil, 1.75 percent, eggs, 1.36 percent, other fabrics, 1.23 percent, dyeing material, 1.11 percent, fertilizers, 1.02 percent, and blended yarn, 1.00 percent.
Prices of following commodities on account of WPI witnessed a reduction on monthly basis; fresh fruits, 10.80 percent, poultry, 9.92 percent, furnace oil, 5.26 percent, rice, 1.27 percent, and dry fruits, 1.14 percent. WPI of following commodities witnessed an increase in June 2019 against June 2018; other leather N.E.C, 218.26 percent, Jowar, 59.52 percent, liquefied natural gas, 48.56 percent, vegetables, 36.97 percent, sugar crops, 35.74 percent, bajra, 26.67 percent, spices, 24.66 percent, maize, 23.70 percent, tobacco products, 23.69 percent, potatoes, 23.18 percent, petrol, 22.55 percent, paints & varnishes, 22.31 percent, auto tyres, 21.43 percent, motorcycle, 19.91 percent, stimulant & spice crops, 19.35 percent, diesel, 19.31 percent, cotton yarn, 18.20 percent, kerosene oil, 16.94 percent, fertilizers, 16.81 percent, pipe fittings, 16.59 percent, fibre crops, 16.41 percent, and chemicals, 16.34 percent. WPI of following commodities went down in June 2019 against June 2018: poultry, 15.18 percent, eggs, 14.74 percent, hides & fur skin, 2.06 percent, electrical energy, 1.42 percent, and dry fruits, 1.13 percent.
