The Karachi Port handled 132,902 tonnes of cargo comprising 88,803 tonnes of import cargo and 44,099 tonnes of export cargo including 6,752 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargos of 88,803 tonnes comprised of 48,754 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,173 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,446 tonnes of canola; 1,570 tonnes of DAP; 2,660 tonnes of palm kernel and 30,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 44,099 tonnes comprised of 34,210 tonnes of containerised cargo; 605 tonnes of bulk cargo; 6,921 tonnes of clinkers; 2,363 tonnes of rice and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,752 containers comprising of 3,976 containers import and 2,776 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 736 of 20's and 1,389 of 40's loaded while 70 of 20's and 196 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 910 of 20's and 617 of 40's loaded containers while 66 of 20's and 283 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Beijing Bridge, Hyundai Oakland, Diyala, Avra and Zea Singapore carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. Greenwich Bridge, APL Minnesota, Botany Bay, Grace and Glovis Melody carrying containers and clinkers respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 134,522 tonnes comprising 114,632 tonnes of import cargo and 19,890 tonnes of export cargo including 1,450 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 114,632 tonnes includes 10,187 tonnes of LNG; 1,918 tonnes of diesel oil; 6,649 tonnes of palm oil; 44,862 tonnes of coal; 10,756 tonnes of steel coil; 33,020 tonnes of mogas and 12,027 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 19,890 tonnes includes 4,367 tonnes of rice and 15,523 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 1,450 containers comprising of 633 containers import and 817 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. There were four ships namely Conti Cortesia, Secon-7, Nord Mars and Maritime Riyal carrying containers, general cargo, diesel oil and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, rice, coal, soyabean, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as eight vessels viz. MSC Pina, Stena Important, SBI Tethys, Yasa Aysen, Bunga Akasa, Ummbab, TBC Progress and NCC Qassim respectively carrying containers, soyabean, coal, chemical, LNG, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were seven ships viz. MSC Pina, Maersk Kensington, SBI Tethys, Stena Important, Bunga Akasa, Ummbab and TBC Progress respectively carrying containers, coal, soyabean, chemical, LNG and palm kernel respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grains and Furtilizer Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There was one ship namely Maersk Kensington carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday, while another ship namely MOL Globe carrying containers is due to arrive on Wednesday.
