The Karachi Port handled 137,019 tonnes of cargo comprising 69,140 tonnes of import cargo and 67,879 tonnes of export cargo including 6,771 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargos of 69,140 tonnes comprised of 44,546 tonnes of containerised cargo; 142 tonnes of bulk cargo; 2,014 tonnes of canola; 4,811 tonnes of DAP; 1,970 tonnes of palm kernel and 15,657 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 67,879 tonnes comprised of 27,210 tonnes of containerised cargo; 475 tonnes of bulk cargo; 34,474 tonnes of clinkers; 1,268 tonnes of rice and 4,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 6,771 containers comprising of 3,417 containers import and 3,354 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 924 of 20's and 1,186 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 60 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 481 of 20's and 774 of 40's loaded containers while 199 of 20's and 563 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely APL Minnesota, Chemroute Sun, Nordic Basel and Seacon Singapore carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas and steel respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. YM Fountain, Wieland, Ardmore Seavantage and Al Mahboobah carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 151,336 tonnes comprising 126,593 tonnes of import cargo and 24,743 tonnes of export cargo including 3,160 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 126,593 tonnes includes 11,257 tonnes of LNG; 10,000 tonnes of diesel oil; 6,500 tonnes of palm oil; 42,326 tonnes of coal; 7,500 tonnes of canola seeds; 6,260 tonnes of chemical and 42,750 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 24,743 tonnes includes 7,453 tonnes of rice; 17,290 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,160 containers comprising of 2,250 containers import and 910 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There were four ships namely Maersk Kensington, Ariaone, Bunga Akasa and Nord Mars carrying containers, coal, chemical and diesel oil respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday afternoon.
A total number of twelve vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, rice, coal, soyabean, chemical, LNG, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as four vessels viz. SBI Wrsa, Yasa Aysen, King Craft and NCC Qassim carrying coal, LPG and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There was one ship viz. MOL Globe respectively carrying containers expected to take berth at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely MOL Globe carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday, while two more ships namely Tucapel and Hugo Schulte carrying containers are due to arrive on Thursday.
