KARACHI: Sindh High Court’s (SHC) Justice Aftab Ghorur  on Thursday remarked about the Sindh province’s crime situation as saying that crime will fall in a day if Punjab police are deployed in Sindh.

A two-member bench of the SHC, headed by Justice Aftab Ghorur and comprising  Justice Amjad Ali Sahto, heard a petition against increasing incidents of crimes in the province.

Petitioner, Muzamil Mumtaz advocate, argued that crime incidents were growing in the province once again, the offense of mobiles snatching had risen while police had failed to control those crimes.

The advocate appealed to the bench to ask DIGs how many FIRs had been registered against the crimes. He stated that mobile companies help would also be sought to determine right figures of mobile snatching.

The applicant said that criminals roamed freely across the city with guns as police had failed to control the menace of crimes in the city.

Justice Aftab expressed annoyance against the police for not submitting a reply on the petition and remarked that it was painful to see the uncontrolled crimes in the province.

He said if street crimes in the province remained same, then it would never come to an end.

The bench ordered IGP Sindh to present a report on the matter on February 19.
