Traders' action committee called off strike on Sunday after their meeting with Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, here. Aaj News reported that the Governor, who belongs to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, has assured them to ensure that their grievances would be addressed. Jamil Paracha of the traders' action committee said that they had received some assurances regarding their grievances.
Imran Ismail excused over his Saturday statement concerning the traders. Traders said they have been assured that in first phase, action against traders relating to the taxes under new budget would not be taken for one month. All issues would be resolved through table talks.
Governor has formed a committee to coordinate with the traders on their issues. PTI legislator Khurram Sher Zaman has been appointed its head. FBR chairman Shabbar Zaidi will hold talks with the traders within three days. However, traders said, if talks fail, they would support the call of Anjuman Tajiran-e-Pakistan for countrywide strike on July 13.
Rizwan Irfan led the delegation of Karachi Tajir Action Committee (KTAC) in a meeting at the Governor House. According to the Governor House, Governor also thanked the KTAC for taking back strike call. The protesting traders want the federal government to revisit the taxation measures approved in the fiscal budget 2018-19. Earlier, reports had it traders were assured that Governor would arrange their meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan on July 11 when they would be able to apprise the Prime Minister of their viewpoint.
