Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, Senator Sirajul Haq, has called upon the Chief Justice of Pakistan to constitute a judicial commission to probe into the issue of the alleged video of Accountability Court judge Arshad Malik so that the nation could know the real facts.
While addressing a press conference on the third day of the JI central Shoora meeting at Mansoora, he said that an independent judiciary was a pillar of the state and the alleged video was a question mark on the entire judicial system. He said that the government was making the state institutions controversial. Deputy Secretary General, JI, Muhammad Asghar, provincial chiefs, Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, Muhammad Husian Mehnati, and Information Secretary Qaisar Sharif were present on the occasion.
Sirajul Haq said that the PTI coming into power on the basis of rosy promises and tall claims had failed within a year and the masses had been totally disappointed as new taxes were being levied every day.
The JI chief impressed upon Prime Minister Imran Khan to take up the Kashmir issue at his meeting with US President Trump. He said the government would have to abandon the apologetic attitude on the Kashmir issue.
He said that the prime minister's visit would be considered successful if he was able to achieve the release of Dr Aafia Siddiqi. He said if the Prime Minister could bring Dr Aafia with him on return from the US, he would personally receive him at the airport. He said that Pakistan's support for India as UN Security Council Member was tantamount to betraying the Kashmiris and the Pakistan ideology.
He further said that political and economic terrorists were occupying the corridors of power. He said the government had not been able to carry on the accountability of the plunderers and there was only hullaballoo in the name of accountability. He said the government had not been able to retrieve a penny out of 375 billion dollars lying abroad. Similarly, he said, none of the people named in the Panama Leaks had been hauled up nor the cases of the mega corruption lying with NAB opened.
Sirajul Haq said that on the other hand, the government had given the powers of the East India Company to the IMF. He said that the shrieks of the people were not reaching Bani Gala.
