All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association (APTPMA) on Monday announced that all processing mills would remain closed indefinitely as the federal government has declined their demands. In an emergency meeting at the SITE office, APTPMA members reviewed the entire situation and after detailed discussion decided that textile processing mills would not resume operation as clients don't agree on new rates.
During the meeting, members were informed that the federal government on Monday negotiated with textile processing mills of Faisalabad and despite dialogue that lasted for four hour, government refused to accept the demands of the industry. In this situation, when customers are not placing orders and industry is facing losses, textile processing mills across the country would remain closed.
They urged Prime Minister Imran Khan and adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Abdul Razak Dawood and chairman FBR Shabbar Zaidi to review budgetary measurers to overcome ongoing crisis and protect the jobs of hundreds of textile employees.
